Re: RAIN FORECAST
So far the weather has not co-operated one bit with my work schedule.
I did make it to the range for a short while one evening.
The rifle shoots great. I will have to try and balance archery season and my love for BBQ venison and getting in as much squirrel hunting as I can. Hope to get drawn for our muzzle loader season in December.
One thing I also hope to do is some coon hunting. I can usaully find a coon or two snoozing in a tree.
Season opens Oct 15th. The fur gets better by the end of October with the best fur in November.
If you can get a nice sunny warm day they are often found sunning themselves and sleeping in the biggest trees you can find.

Re: RAIN FORECAST
Here is my 25 yard 5 shot group.
4 can be covered with the silver dollar.
One got away on me.
Lighting was so poor this day I had to get out from under the roof at the shooting
line to see my powder pouring into the measure and again to pour powder into the pan of the lock.
Aiming at the blue ink dot was a challenge to say the least and I think that is the cause of the one shot
that got away on me to the right of the group. My next outing I will have a better defined bulls eye and
hopefully a brighter day.
All in all I was pleased and feel I can defend myself against any enraged squirrel that should happen to charge me.

Re: RAIN FORECAST
I did make it to the bush with the 40 Cal. but it was not a good outing.
I decided to do some deer scouting and perhaps pick up a bushy tail or two but
this woodlot did not have much to offer squirrels in the way of food crops.
No beach or oak etc.
On the way there I did see the sorriest looking coyote in the whole world.
If I had a rifle I would have put him out of his misery.
He was going across a field about 150 yards off the road.
He was mange from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail.
I mean every sqaure in of his hide.
I know there are tons of mangy coyotes out there but what makes this guy the
sorriest coyote in the whole world was that he had a broken back leg to boot.
This was two days ago and it still bothers me to think about it. The bottom part of his right back
leg would flop around when he would run. It was an ugly sight.

Re: RAIN FORECAST
Looks like that gun shoot straight for sure!
Poor old coyote. Nature is far more cruel than a bullet.
